Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday – 8th November

This year, because of Covid 19 restrictions, we are unable to observe Remembrance Sunday in the usual way. Instead, we will be holding a short act of remembrance at the war memorials in each of the churchyards at Heanton, Marwood and West Down. These will start at 10.45am and a 2 minute silence will be observed at 11.00am. Wreaths can be laid following the silence.

Numbers of people attending at each church will need to be managed and we will need to collect names and contact details for track and trace purposes. We would therefore be grateful if you could contact us at least one week before the service if you wish to attend. Details of who to contact are listed below. Please also let us know if you would like to lay a wreath on behalf of a particular organisation.

Heanton: Rev Steve Painting on 01271 812605 or stevepainting061@gmail.com

Marwood: Mrs Margaret Greenslade 01271 372065 or marwoodmargaret@gmail.com

West Down: Mr Andy Odell 01271 864427 or andy.odell@sky.com

The following precautions will be taken at each location in order to comply with Covid 19 regulations.

· You will be required to sign in on arrival for Test and Trace

· Social distancing — please stay at least 2m apart from anyone not in your household

· Wear a face covering in the churchyard and during the service

· Sanitise your hands before entering and leaving the churchyard

· Wear suitable footwear for wet grass and uneven ground

· Chose a spot and stay there. Please do not wander around

· Please do not gather on paths or access points

· Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before the service starts

· Church buildings will remain locked

We encourage everyone in our Parishes who is at home on Wednesday 11th November at 11.00am to pause from activity and come out onto the doorsteps of your houses to observe 2 minutes silence, but please maintain social distancing.
